Hi,

 Seems like most weddings in the 40"s were held in the church and the gatherings in the homes. Have you thought to maybe post the pics to instagram? I have pictures too of unknown people and I have asked my family members to look at them, I think how wonderful it would be to connect with someone whose long lost relative it is. Another thought, the historical societies keep files of families. Do you have any idea of the family group? Are you able to relate an event(date, time)  in a picture to members of the church at that time.  Sometimes looking at the anniversary celebration books done by the church might make for some identification. Just some thoughts and will get back to you with more.

   What do you speak of?

Is there anything quite like a Rusyn wedding?  From the old country we still hold onto some of our cherished traditions.  I think of the wedding dance still done at my 1971 wedding. And the music and food and cheer.

I am attaching a pic of my Aunt Mary's wedding party. I marvel at  her beauty and lovely gown. How was my grandfather able to provide  the likes of such a wedding on a miners salary? The wedding of Mary Pohanish Sworin and John Sworin was held on July 18, 1916. I know it was held at St. Michael's Byzantine Church in Dunmore. And that's all of the story I know.  Was there music and dancing? a wedding cake? most definitely the bridal dance? at my grandmothers house? who sewed the beautiful gown and headpiece?
