Hello,
I'm working on my ancestry because my grandmother is of "'Ukrainian' heritage. Things were funny coming up though: she talked about her mother "almost alternating between Ukrainian and Polish, or something", and all of the birth dates for their ancestors were in Austria-Hungary. They were Ukrainian Greek-Catholics, and we've narrowed down their parish as well, the same one my grandma went to.
The thing is, now I'm stuck. I know that all four of my grandma's grandparents came from Austria-Hungary, that one of their surnames is located in Eastern Slovakia, and that they were pretty much all Greek-Catholics. But I don't know what villages they were from, what ethnicity they were (Rusyn/Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Slovak, Goral, and so forth), what dates they emigrated, or any such info. I'd like to more deeply ground the data beyond "Yeah they were born in 'Austria' in X year." but I'm not sure how much data to share here, given the disclaimer at the top of the forum. For anyone willing to help, I've got a rudimentary tree assembled.
Thanks
