What were our ancestors’ lives like in the 1800s and what were some of the influences that affected them? How did the Hapsburg reforms change their lives? Who were those who lived around them and interacted with them including Slovaks, Hungarians, Germans, Jews and others?

Bring your questions for discussion to this interactive session where Dr. Magocsi will help us to understand more about our people and their history.

For those who would like to have a more comprehensive background before the discussion we suggest that you read chapters 7-9 (pages 87-128) of Professor Magocsi’s book With Their Backs to the Mountains: A History of Carpathian Rus’ and Carpatho-Rusyns published by Central European University Press available from the Carpatho-Rusyn Research Center (https://c-rrc.org/).
